Tutor Trust Impact Report 2024/2025 - Report - Page 14
Post-16 GCSE resit programme
Following the summer 2024 GCSE exams,
there were over 340,000 entries for
post-16 learners aged 16-18 taking resits.
Entries have risen by over 20% for English
and 13% for maths which puts pressure
on the capacity to meet the need for
resits.10 The national pass rate for those
resitting is extremely low, which is
something we are working to tackle.
The Education Endowment Foundation
(EEF) is funding an evaluation of a pilot
project providing Tutor Trust support for
post-16 learners resitting their GCSEs.
This targeted support is for learners
who 昀椀nd themselves in this situation,
and will be independently evaluated by
the National Foundation for Educational
Research (NFER). Initial results from
2024/25 resits are encouraging and
a full report is expected in 2026.
Teacher feedback
Tutor Trust provided 1:1 tutoring
“forThe
some of our GCSE resit students.
The tutors were professional, engaging
and built rapport with students
quickly. 50% of the students achieved
a Grade 4 or above, and some achieved
a Grade 5. Scott Fenner, Assistant
Principal and Head of Sixth Form,

Learner feedback
Through being able to work with
someone 1:1, it was easier to take in
information, and I believe that the
tutoring played a role in me achieving
a Grade 4 in my exams.
